Full Description

Remains of a farmstead and mill. An 1808 estate map shows seven buildings (one named as Craig Molarchty) and a yard. It is depicted on the OS 1st edition map as in use, comprising four buildings, one on an L-plan, with a smaller building to the west annotated as a corn mill. By the time of the 2nd edition, the northwest building of the group of four had been removed, and the former L-plan building is shown as two separate buildings. Preliminary survey of the site in 2010 recorded a number of remains in the main complex. These include a mill dam with two or three lades leading to the mill, a mill with wheel pit, the walls standing to 2.4m, a corn drying kiln barn, at least four ruinous buildings, and enclosure and the location of a corn stack. To the west was a substantial ruinous building (mill) with walls of squared granite standing to 3.5m high. A large corn drying kiln had been inserted into the building.
