Full Description
Monument, dated 1836, on the summit of a low hill to the east of Newton of Tullich. It commemorates William Farquharson of Monaltrie (1753 - 1828) who, along with his father, made many improvements to the surrounding area, including roads. The monument is a tall, grey granite obelisk on a stepped square base. A plaque at the base of obelisk has the inscription, 'In memory of William Farquharson of Monaltrie who died at Vevay in Switzerland 20th November 1828 aged 75 years erected by his affectionate widow Margaret Garden 1836'.
