Full Description

Buildings and stack stands recorded by RCAHMS Glen Clova survey in 1999. There are at least two buildings, a stack yard, a dam and a hut on a terrace. The east building, of two compartments , measures 11.6m by 3.3m, the walls reduced to stony banks 0.9m thick and 0.2m high, with an entrance on the southwest. Immediately north is a stackyard containing eight stack stands, with another possible building beneath a pile of logs to the west. The second building, of two compartments, is 10.8m by 2.5m, the walls reduced to stony banks 1.3m wide and 0.4m high. One building is shown on the OS 1st edition map. The dam and mill ponds is depicted on the OS 2nd edition map. Circa 40m south of the dam is a hut measuring 3.5m by 2.3m the walls reduced to grass-grown banks. Walkover survey in 2021 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO37SW0151) recorded only one building, comprising footings measuring 5m by 3m. See also NO37SW0060.
