Township recorded by RCAHMS Glen Clova survey in 1999. It comprises eight buildings, three huts, a kiln and a head dyke. Six of the buildings and a hut are situated on or just above the head dyke marking the upper end of improved ground. The kiln is on the east side of the dyke, and measures 3m in diameter within a wall reduced to a stony bank up to 1m high on the southeast where there is a flue. On the hillside above the main group are two other buildings and three smaller guts, one with an enclosure attached. Nothing is shown at this location on the OS 1st or 2nd edition maps. The remains of at least six buildings and an enclosure were noted during aerial reconnaissance in 2008 - see also NO37SW0108. The site was also recorded in 2021 during walkover survey ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO37SW0151): MM20a - an irregular mound 6m in diameter. MM20b - a large sub-rectangular building, heavily overgrown, measuring circa 17m by 2.5m, the walls spread up to 1m, and up to 0.4m high. MM20c - sub-rectangular building footings, measuring 8m by circa 4.2m the walls less than 0.25m high. MM20d - a short curvilinear earthen bank, the remnants of an enclosure, standing up to 0.6m high, but now spread 1-2m wide. MM20e - rectangular building, with substantial stone footings, measuring circa 9m by 5m. MM20f - a small square building, measuring 5m by circa 4.5m, the walls up to two courses. MM20g - a curvilinear earthen bank, surviving up to 1m high and 1m wide.
