Full Description
Remains of a farmstead or township depicted as being in ruins on the 1864 1st edition OS map. Two sub-rectangular sheepfolds are shown to the northeast. On the 2nd edition (circa 1888), only the two sheepfolds are shown. A circular enclosure now overlaps one of the sheepfolds. RCAHMS Glen Clova survey 1999 describes this as a township, comprising five buildings, four huts, a possible corn-drying kiln and five enclosures. The core of the township has three principal buildings measuring up to 14m long internally, and a group of four smaller huts or outbuildings. Each of the larger buildings has an attached enclosure. The kiln (NO37SWE0096) stands to the northwest. On the hillside east of the main group of buildings are three huts and two sub-rectangular enclosures. A trackway extends from the principal buildings towards the southeast for at least 180m. The site was also recorded during walkover survey in 2021 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO37SW0150).
