Full Description
Wreck of a World War II German aircraft lying offshore from Law Hill is a. It is a Heinkel He III which crashed after attacking a convoy east of Troup Head. The crew of four were captured after paddling ashore. The aircraft was lifted by a recovery barge but it broke loose and sank into deeper water. The engine and propeller were salvaged in 1976 by a sub aqua team and displayed at Strathallon. Later the engine was sent for display at RAF Farnbourgh Museum. The pilot, Hatte Kuhn, revisited the wreck site in 1977.
