Full Description

Remains of nine buildings and five enclosures located in two groups. They were recorded by Headland Archaeology during a survey of the Balnaboth Estate in 1998. The northern group, comprising five buildings and two enclosures, is situated some 100m uphill and south-west from Wester Dalinch and 140m north of the similar southern group. The buildings are concentrated outwith the enclosed ground at Wester Dalinch around the confluence of two minor watercourses and a third burn to the east. They range in size from 6.5-9.5m x 3-4m over turf-covered stony banks or walls standing up to 0.6m in height. Three of the buildings have traces of an enclosure or an L-shaped bank attached to their south-southeast ends. The second group, consisting of four buildings, is situated above the west bank of an unnamed burn to the south of Wester Dalinch. These buildings range in size from 6.5-9.5m in length by 3-3.5m in width over turf-covered stony banks or walls. One building has two compartments. There are enclosures attached to three of the structures.
