Remains of a field system, associated buildings and a cairn. First recorded by Silver in 1979 and more fully by Headland Archaeology during a survey of the Balnaboth Estate in 1998. The remains of five buildings are scattered around the fringes of the field-system surrounding the steading (NO36NW0006). One building lies at the north end of an enclosure, at NO 3288 6740, between the field-system and the river. It is shown in use on the 1st edition OS map (1865). A further small building, measuring 8 m north-south by 3 m over turf-covered stony banks standing up to 0.4 m in height, lies about 200 m to the south at NO 3287 6719. About 300m south-west of the steading, on open ground to the west of the field-system at NO 3259 6731, there are two structures. The smaller structure is situated on a small ridge and comprises a rectangular hollow, measuring 2.5 m by 1.5 m and 0.4 m deep, surrounded by a very low and broad bank. The second structure, which measures 8 m by 4 m externally, lies in a natural gully formed by the ridge and the hillside. It is very similar to a building noted about 600 m to the south. A fifth building lies to the north of the steading at NO 3264 6788. It measures 8 m north-south by 4.5 m over turf-covered stony banks standing up to 0.6 m in height. A few orthostats are visible through the turf on the inner wall lines of the building. Just outside the head-dyke surrounding the field-system, at NO 3246 6783, is a heather-covered cairn measuring 8.5 m in diameter and up to 1.2 m in height. There is a hollow in the middle of the cairn measuring 3 m in diameter and 0.5 m deep.
