Full Description

Farmstead and farmhouse, still in use, built in the mid-19th century with later additions and alterations. On the 1st edition OS map (circa 1846), the farmhouse is shown as a small C-shaped building, with two wings projecting to the North from the rear North-facing elevation. The Western wing is slightly larger than the Eastern one. There is a rectangular enclosure to the East, a small rectangular building to the North of it, and a long rectangular building further to the North again, oriented roughly East/West. On the 2nd edition map (circa 1888), the long rectangular building has been shortened, and another rectangular building, oriented North/South, has been added to the West of it. The smaller rectangular building to the North of the enclosure is larger. The enclosure itself has been extended, but the farmhouse remains the same. Presently, the farmhouse remains much the same, with the addition of a porch. The shortened rectangular building to the North also remains, and there is a new partially-roofed square building to the West of it. The Northern wall of the enclosure to the East remains, but the rest of it, and the rectangular building to the North, are both gone. There is a large modern steading building slightly to the East of the site of the building. The farmhouse itself is a two-storey harled building, with painted margins. There is lying pane, twelve-pane glazing used, and the later gabled porch projects from the centre of the three-bay South elevation. There are end stacks, which are also harled with painted margins. The Eastern rear wing is still two-storey, but rises to a level at roughly half-way up the first floor of the rest of the house.
