Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic OS maps. On the 1st edition OS map it is called 'Fettereggie' and is shown as an L-plan range with a cluster of seven smaller buildings and a rectangular enclosure to the south. By the 2nd edition only three of the buildings and the enclosure are shown to the south, and the L-plan building has an extension on the south front. One of the remaining smaller buildings is disused. Current OS maps show that the L-plan building, the enclosure and two of the smaller buildings survive. Site visit was carried out by Alder Archaeology in 2017 as part of a walkover survey (see NO36NW0082). The farmhouse is of white painted stugged ashlar and rubble construction, with grey slate roof and dormers. The steading to the north is of rubble wall construction.
