Full Description
Remains of huts, buildings and enclosures. Recorded by the RCAHMS during field survey 1999. This noted two rectangular buildings (one of two and the other of three compatments), six subrectangular huts and an enclosure in rough pasture on the lower east-northeast flank of the Hill of Balbae. The enclosure is roughly oval on plan measuring about 17m across, and lies on the hillside above the other structures at NO 36025 67055. At NO 36264 66797 is a group of sub-rectangular huts near the foot of the northeast flank of Hill of Couternach. They vary in size from 4.8m to 6.9m in length and 1.9m to 2.2m in breadth, the walls reduced to low stony banks.
