Full Description
Dovecot, probably dating to late-16th or early-17th centuries. It is a South-facing lectern type dovecot, which is rubble-built, with traces of harling, a chamfered central entrance and a small barred window above that is now shuttered. There is a square vent with a stone grill high in the West gable. The lower rat course is missing, but the upper course returns around building, stepped up at the North-East angle and again at the South-West to return about a squat angle buttress platform. The platform is unusual, and its use if not known. There are small set 4 flightholes under a swept dormer. It has a heavy local slate roof, with skews notched together. Inside, stone nesting boxes line the walls. It served Burgie Castle (NJ05NE0001), to the East. The walled garden (NJ05NE0069) surrounding the castle purposefully excludes the dovecot.

Built in the late-16th or early-17th century. It was given designated listed status on 26/01/1971.
