Full Description

Remains of a clearance cairn recorded during walkover survey by CFA in 2007 ahead of a proposed wind farm. Given its association with linear field boundaries associated with the 19th century improved field system it is thought to be of similar date. It was also recorded during field survey carried out by Clyde Archaeology in October 2023 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO35NW0102). It is a slightly L-plan pile of small boulders and cobbles, up to 7 m across and 0.3 m high, with old tree stumps mixed within the upper stone. It was likely field clearance from the fields to the south, probably 19th, or even 20th, century in date.
