Full Description
Two small cairns, measuring 2.5m in diameter by 0.3m high, were reported by J Sherriff in 1982. They were said to be situated in a small plot of rough pasture. Field survey undertaken by CFA in 2007 ahead of a proposed wind farm recorded no upstanding remains of cairns at the given locations but identified nine field clearance cairns scattered over the upper southwest slope of Kinclune Hill. These varied in size from 8m by 2m and 0.7m high to smaller 2m by 3m and 0.5m high. One clearance cairn at NO3104 5666 is 10m by 3m and 0.5m high may be one of the cairns referred to by Sherriff, although the clearance cairns are composed of heaps of bare stone and appear relatively modern, although they could however overlie earlier clearance cairns as five of the cairns are partly grassed over around their edges. Surveyed by MAS in 2010 during a walkover survey in advance of a proposed windfarm.
