Summary

Full Description
A burial cairn measuring 5 m in diameter by 0.3 m high, was reported by J Sherriff in 1982 located near the summit of the hill. A field survey by CFA in 2007 could find no evidence of a cairn although two stone heaps were noted close by the recorded site. One heap measures 2 m by 1 m and 0.3 m high. The other closer to the reported location is 4m by 3m and 0.4m high. Field survey carried out by Clyde Archaeology in October 2023 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO35NW0102) found no clear sign of either the cairn noted in 1982 or the mounds recorded in 2007. A relatively distinct grass covered mound measuring 7 m in diameter and 0.5 m in height was recorded 20 m southeast of the location given for the cairn seen in 1982 but this was not conclusively a cairn, and may have been bedrock.
