Full Description
Farmstead, in use, depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1846 as a square plan steading arranged around a central open courtyard into which a rectangular building extends from the north wing. To the southwest is a bothy or farmhouse, with a mill dam to the west and pond to the south. On the 2nd edition map of 1888, the north wing of the steading has been enlarged as has the bothy/farmhouse. All of these buildings survive, but the pond and mill dam are not shown on current maps. The bothy and the north and east part of the steading were demolished in 2009. Part of a symbol stone and a marriage lintel were recovered from the bothy where they had been built into the walls. The symbol stone shows part of a panel of interlace in the centre with the tail of a spiral on either side, it may be part of a cross. The marriage lintel has a date of 1799 and what appear to be the letters I or J and R, and KO on either side of a heart.
