Full Description

Remains of a fermtoun. Depicted on the 1st edition OS map as an L-planand a rectangular steading plus a well on the west side of the road, with a Z-plan and three further rectangular buildings on the east side. Two of the eastern buildings have small enclosure attached, while a larger enclosure lies further to the east. On the 2nd edition of 1888, only the buildings and well on the west side are depicted, with the L-shaped steading having been altered to a U-shape open to the east and enclosure added to the south end of the rectangular steading. These two original buildings appear to survive. On the east side, grass-grown footings of at least five buildings, but possibly seven, are visible, though not depicted on the current edition OS map (2006). What may be a kiln is backed into a slight knoll to the east of the buildings.
