Full Description

Estate cottage, still in residential use, built in the mid 19th century. It was possibly designed by James Henderson using designs from the pattern books of P F Robinson, and has similar detailing to Inverchandlick Cottage (NO19SW0035), also of Invercauld Estate. It is a picturesque asymmetrical single storey and attic cottage situated at the road side with unusual and distinctive detailing. Built of pink and grey coursed granite with a half hipped roof of grey graded slate and gable stack with 2 square-plan shaped stacks with canted bases abd decorative coping. It has some hoodmoulds, deep timber bracketed eaves and red painted iron rainwater goods. The windows are timber casements with timber diamond pane glazing to east and south, timber plate glass casement windows to the east. The cottage is surrounded by a garden with post and rail fence. It has also been referred to as a tollhouse.
