Full Description

Remains of a possible shieling recorded during walkover survey carried out by AOC Archaeology in May 2019 ahead of a proposed woodland creation scheme (NO26SE0017). It comprises a very degraded turf structure with some stone, forming a slightly raised mound. It is of two compartments, the western measuring 4.5m by 1.5m internally, the other 3m by 1.5m internally. The walls are spread to 1.2m wide and stand up to 0.3mn high. On the south east side, possibly associated, is a drainage ditch with possible raised bank.
