Full Description

Remains of an enclosure or structure recorded by walkover survey by CFA in 2012 ahead of proposed access track upgrading. It comprised a denuded, low turf covered stone wall forming an L-shape measuring 5 m by 5 m and defined by walls measuring 1.2 m wide by 0.1-0.3 m high. A fragment of drystone wall, measuring 4 m by 1 m by 0.4 m high lay to the west, and a second section of L-shaped wall, immediately to the east measuring 12 m by 2.5 m, with walls 1 m wide by 0.1 m high. Several low piles of stone were recorded in the near vicinity to the east and south, some of which may relate to the structural remains, and/or to the bank associated with the track. The feature possibly represents the poorly preserved remains of an enclosure or sheepfold associated with Berryburn farm (NJ04NE0012)
