Full Description
Field survey by Mott Macdonald in 2022 of a clearing within forestry recorded a few features (although these are not noted in the 1994 pre-afforestation survey of the area). At NO2246357103 is a small quarry pit (MM06) visible as a small overgrown depression circa 2m by 1m and circa 0.5m deep. It may have been dug to create a nearby heavily overgrown feature, a possible grouse butt (MM05) at NO2246357103. This comprises a small mound circa 3m by 1m with an apparent stone core circa o.4m high. At NO2251857086 the survey recorded a small mound (MM07) circa 1.5m diameter and circa 0.5m high, which may not be archaeological.
