Full Description
Remains of a possible shooting butt and three mounds recorded on the east side of Broom Hill during the course of a pre-afforestation survey by AOC (Scotland) Ltd in 1994. Field survey in 2022 by Mott Macdonald ahead of forestry works recorded a small mound (MM02) at NO2236956820, measuring circa 8m in diameter and circa 0.5m high, which may not be archaeological but is probably one of those noted in 1994. At NO224656858 are the remains of a large bowled quarry (MM03) circa 3-4m deep and circa 17m in diameter with a clear track running to the southeast. To eth southeast, at NO2241956806 is a possible raised platform (MM04) measuring circa 9m by 6m, at the east end of a lather, apparently natural, mound. it is not clear whether this is archaeological in origin.
