Remains of a mound, with areas of field clearance to the north and south.

Remains of a mound, with areas of field clearance to the north and south. Recorded during the course of a pre-afforestation survey by AOC(Scotland) Ltd in 1994. Walkover survey of the site was carried out by Mott Macdonald in March 2022 ahead of forestry works, but found no evidence of the mound identified in 1994. Four clearance cairns of varying sizes were recorded, three to the south and one to the north of the recorded location of the mound. MM12 at NO2263356558 measured circa 6m by 3m, standing up to 1m high. MM14 at NO2266656453, has a concentrated central mound and measures circa 5m by 3m, surrounded by a large volume of accumulated very large stones. MM15 at NO2271356369 is overgrown, measuring circa 3-4m in diameter and 1m high. MM16 at NO2272053532 is a very large and overgrown cairn, with multiple accumulations. None had the appearance of anything other than clearance associated with agricultural usage, planting of trees of works on the overhead line. An established track along to the former farmstead of Whitesheals, has a slight mound and ditch on its western side
