Full Description
Remains of a field boundary dyke, depicted on the OS historic maps, and a clearance cairn recorded during a walkover survey conducted by Alder Archaeology in October 2020, in advance of proposed woodland creation (NO25NE0079). The dyke, recorded as Feature 01 (NO 28812 57576), is a maximum 0.50 m high, 1 m wide, much tumbled, aligned northwest-southeast, and runs southeast until it peters out after 30 m. The clearance cairn, recorded as Feature 03 (NO 28858 57461), is a loose pile of boulders circa 2 m in diameter, probably representing the recent removal of the southeast end of dyke (Feature 01), and was not deemed archaeologically significant.
