Full Description

Remains of a farmstead shown on the 1st edition OS map (1865) as Muir of Balintore. It comprises a rectangular compartmented building and an enclosure. The building, which stands detached from the enclosure, measures 34.7 m by 5.5 m over stone wall-footings and is divided into four compartments. The enclosure measures 13 m by 6 m within a ruinous stone wall. It is depicted on the 1st edition OS map, but shown as abandoned on the later 2nd edition. Another building lies 250 m to the east at NO2938 5745. The remains were recorded by walkover survey conducted by Alder Archaeology in October 2020, in advance of proposed woodland creation (NO25NE0079). They comprised a tumbled drystone ruins of a small cluster of buildings.
