Full Description
Railway bridge, no longer in use, built in circa 1868 as a response to the Newtyle Deviation Act allowing the Caledonian Railway Dundee and Newtyle railway line (see NO24SE0083) to avoid the Hutton Incline. It is first shown on the 2nd edition OS map. It is a single-span skew-plan overbridge with a segmental arch. There are curved wing walls constructed from bull-faced squared rubble, with rusticated ashlar voussoirs and intrados, and a smooth ashlar impost, parapet base and coping. This section of the line was closed to all traffic in 1967.
Period Notes
Built in 1868, and closed to passenger traffic in 1955 and to all other traffic in 1967. It was listed on 01/07/2004.
