Full Description
House, located within the Conservation Area of Braemar, depicted on the 1st edition OS map and dating to at least 1830. The house, in the traditional Deeside vernacular style, is depicted as a simple rectangular building on the 1st edition OS map, extended at the north end to form an L-plan building by the 2nd edition OS map, and extended at the south end by the OS map of 1945. The main house is stone built and harled, with two dormer windows to the front elevation with decorated timber eaves, a bay window at ground floor level and a pine trunk porch (a typical detail of this part of Aberdeenshire), now damaged. The extension at the south end is timber boarded. A Level 2 Standing Building Survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in September 2018 prior to proposed demolition. At least 6 phases of building work were identified from the early 19th century through to the late 20th.
