Full Description

Former shooting lodge, now in use as a hotel, built in the late 19th century with 20th century additions. It is a large two-storey, irregular plan building set in its own grounds on the main approach to the village of Braemar from the south, and is constructed from squared and pinned granite. There is a grey slate roof that has gable stacks and octagonal chimney cans, and there are deep overhanging eaves with projecting rafters and plain bargeboards. The principal south elevation comprises an advanced central gabled projection with canted angles corbelled to a square gablehead. There is a canted bay window to the west of this with a single window to the gable above. To the east is a projecting two-storey angled bay with bipartite windows to the ground floor. There is a large 20th century gabled addition to the north.
