Full Description

Two post medieval longhouses with faced rubble construction are all but obscured by heather and blaeberry bushes. Building 1 is sub-rectangular with a single entrance in the north wall. The walls are circa 0.5m high. A drainage ditch runs parallel to the south wall. Building 2 is also a sub-rectangular building circa 4m south of building 1. There are two rooms each with an entrance in the north wall. The walls are approx. 0.5m high. (DES 1998,p7). They were recorded again in September 2017 by NTS during a walkover survey prior to the realignment of the roadway after a large floor of the Quoich Water. Walkover survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in June/July 2015 to assess damage on the Mar Lodge estate resulting from flooding in the wake of storm Bertha. The remains are now covered in dense heather.
