Full Description
Remains of at least 14 shieling huts on the banks of the Allt Coirre Bhearnaist. Most of the huts are situated on a terrace above the left bank of the burn, only three being on the opposite bank. They can be divided into two group on basis of size. One group consists of 6 huts between 4-5m in length and between 3-3.5m in breadth over walls 0.6m thick. The other 8 huts are considerably larger, between 6.7-9.5m long by 3.3-4.2m in breadth. Most of the huts are built of faced rubble, often embanked with turf on one or more sides. Some have rounded corners or round ends and some square cornered. Two huts have extensions at one end and another has an outshot on its ENE end. This hut stands out in being L-shaped. Outside it and two other huts there are grassed-over middens.
