Full Description
Remains of five sub-rectangular, heather-covered shieling huts scattered across a series of broken terraces to the north of the waterfalls at Chest of Dee. Two of them have outshots and one overlies the remains of an earlier building. The Annual Archaeology Report 2001 from Mar Lodge Estate recorded the discovery of another rectangular building with associated drying platform within the existing settlement remains (NTS 2002). This possibly may be the settlement named Carn galdil on the Gordon map 1636-52.
