Full Description
Remains of depopulated township. A longhouse,12 m by 6 m, has rounded corners, on the hillside above the Dee floodplain beyond the head dyke. A second longhouse, 7 m by 5 m, possibly has a collapsed kiln at west end, set into the slope. Also on the hillslope is a longhouse,12 m by 5 m, with rounded corners. At the back of a heather-covered terrace are two longhouses, 12 m by 5 m and 7 m by 4 m, with an enclosure, 22 m by 8 m, with a single entrance and clearance heaps. Another longhouse, 20 m by 6 m, has three partitions and is tacked on to the enclosure wall. A second longhouse,12 m by 5 m, also tacked on to the enclosure, is associated with a curvilinear plot and stone cell at end. Another longhouse, 12 m by 5m, is near formerly cultivated 'greens' and stone clearance heaps. Dalvorar may be an unnamed settlement shown on the Gordon map (1636-1652).
