Full Description

Depopulated settlement, comprising remains of clearly visible footings of longhouses and ancillary buildings, situated within a substantial head dyke. Some were damaged by bulldozer while putting through a new track in 1984. Depopulated circa 1840. Several unroofed buildings are shown on the OS 1st edition map on which the settlement is annotate as 'in ruins'. Several items were recovered by a metal detectorist within the area of the settlement, and reported in 2024 - see NO08NE0072, NO08NE0081, NO08NE0078, NO08NE0083.
