Full Description

Depopulated settlement within the main head dyke enclosure. The internal subdivisions have the character of linear stone clearance banks with cultivated soils built up on the upslope edge of the bank. There are oval stone clearance heaps, some resting on rock outcrops. A 4m wide track leads diagonally upslope. The internal area is notably stone-free with stone clearance in a more random fashion into the steeper slopes and shallow gullies and around mature birch stumps. By the track side is a longhouse, 15m by 6m by 1.5m, square-ended with end entrance. Adjacent and at right angles is another longhouse 18m by 6m, on a 'tel' mound, square-ended with three entrances. Set into the northeast end of the former, and linked into a 9m by 5m foundation, is a 7 course high corn kiln. There is an enclosure of garden plot type with a further enclosure on gorge side. A small stream bed had been engineered. A further longhouse, 14m by 5m, sits on a 'tel' mound with a 6m by 2m with displaced entrance, and a circular corn kiln behind.
