Full Description

There are several possible grass-covered foundations of buildings and small enclosures lying within a larger area disturbed by later quarrying. The structures may be related to the quarrying as they are not depicted on the OS 1st or 2nd edition maps. Site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey noted no foundations evident on the ground. There is a surviving small granite ashlar building depicted on the 2nd edition map. This has a curved concrete roof and door on the south side but no windows. Internally, wooden battens may indicate that it was wood lined, possibly a gunpowder store for the quarry.
