Full Description
Mansion House built on possible site of manor. The house dates to circa 1840/45, and is a 2-storey building, harled with grey granite margins and eaves belt course. The south front is 3-window, with the centre bay advanced. The east front is 5-window (several dummies) with the centre bay advanced, and two wallhead chimneys. It has a broad-eaved piended roof, with gablets over the centre bays. The interior is simple, with a little decorative plasterwork, a fine marble chimneypiece (circa 1805), an excellent sculptured panel in the drawing-room. The banisters were from Brucklay Castle. There is a date panel inscribed 1711 with the initials A W S J S, presumed to be from a previous house at the rear.
