Full Description
Site of manor and house, known variously as Knowsie, Blairmormond, and Blairmormunth House. Largely demolished in circa 1950. Photographs show this house to have been a plain one and a half storey harled structure, which had been greatly extended in the 19th Century. The older part of the house appears to date from the 18th Century, but the possibility that it either included or was the manor-house which was recorded in 1722 cannot be ruled out. In the late 17th Century this estate belonged to James, Earl of Erroll. The 1st and 2nd edition OS maps show that there was also a threshing mill with mill dam and steading to the north of the main house, and a 'pumping' windmill is shown to the south on the 2nd edition map. The steading is now ruinous.
