Full Description

Remains of chapel and associated graveyard. The chapel is rectangular in plan, measuring internally 13.7 m (45 ft) east-west by 5.7 m (18 ft 9 in) north-south with walls 0.9 m (3 ft) thick. It is roughly built of rubble robbed of its dressings. Mentioned 1214 and 1233 it was possibly built in the late 12th Century, when according to the New Statistical Account it was the private chapel of the nearby castle (NK05NE0004), within the Burgh of Rattray (NK05NE0003). The gables are nearly entire with the east gable having three lancet windows with some red sandstone keystones left. A considerable portion of the side walls remain. There appear to have been doorways on the north, west and southwest. The old graveyard is still maintained.
