Full Description

Ardallie church was built in 1857 designed by William Clarke. It is Gothic, of late Georgian pattern. Rectangular in plan it is harled with granite margins and dressings and with a 3-window west flank. The door is in the south. There are windows on either side of simple wood Y-tracery with original glazing. The gable end has a suggestion of tower in the thickening of the wall in diminishing stages carrying a bellcote with spiralet and containing a Mears bell. Below the vestry is an area which is said to have been used by the Auxiliary Army as a secret hide-out during World War II. A church / community hall was added to the east of the church in the early 20th Century. The church is now closed and in private use. Ardallie Manse (NK03NW0099) is adjacent to the northwest. A photographic survey was carried out in 2019 prior to the partial demolition and redevelopment of the hall.
