Full Description
An eight-sided World War II pill-box lies within sand on Foveran Links. Occasionally it is covered and other times only the roof shows. It has two embrasures on the long, west facing, side and one each in the corners and sides. Built of red brick with a concrete roof. It was fully exposed at the time of a site visit in October 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. Site visit in July 2024 noted scouring of the sand around the foundations. A partially buried roll of unused barbed wire, fused into a cylinder, was also noted a few yards east of the pillbox. Site visit in April 2025 noted the base of an old telegraph pole emerging nearby: it appears to have been sawn off some time ago but burnt more recently. Also visible nearby was the turnbuckle for a guy-wire, and a pair of sturdy pins.
