Full Description
Remains of a possible fish-trap. It comprises a spread of stone in an arc across the bed of the River Ythan, visible on aerial photographs taken by RCAHMS in 2003. The stone spread extends from the east bank of the river, and turns to run roughly northeast to a mud embankment that is exposed at low tide. The fish trap can be traced along the mud bank and may have returned to the east bank of the river, where there is a short spread of stones. The 1st and 2nd edition OS maps show an arc of stones annotated as a jetty. Site visit in 2023 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey recorded a number of short metal posts within the structure.
