Full Description

Former estate/farm 'Offices', now in residential use, and dovecot. The former offices are L-plan single-storey with a later gig house. Converted into residential accommodation in 1974 and named as 'The Glebe', previously known as the 'Manse Of Slains'. The circular dovecot possibly dates from the mid 18th Century. It is constructed of granite and blue slate-like stone. It has square wall recesses and ledges internally but there is no rat course. The basement was used as a stone store and the upper part was sealed. It is now no longer used as a store and the nests remain intact. The roof was conical with scallop-shaped slates. It collapsed circa 1955 but has since been re-roofed. The wall surrounding the dovecot incorporates a ramped duck-walk to the stream on the outer north elevation. Square gate piers with moulded tops, probably by William Smith in 1876.
