Full Description
Farmstead, no longer in use, depicted on historic OS maps. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a rectangular-plan building with two small square buildings to the east. On the 2nd edition OS map it has been extended to the north with an L-plan section, the two buildings to the east removed and a small rectangular-plan building added to the south. Current OS maps show additions to the northern section, and the building to the south has been removed. A Level 1 Standing Building Survey was carried out in 2017 by MAS prior to proposed demolition. The building is recorded as being made up of a house with two byres, a pig shed and an outshot used as a smithy. The house section is recorded as being one and a half storeys and constructed from rubble with rubble quoins. The agricultural sections are a range of heights, and some of them are recorded as roofless. The steading is of an unusually small size in comparison with the house, which would more usually be a single-storey croft with such a small associated steading.
