Full Description

Remains of simple, square dovecot dating from mid-late 18th Century, now roofless. Constructed of dark whinstone rubble, with contrasting grey tooled granite dressings. The entrance door is positioned centrally and is east facing, with a small, square pigeon entrance above and a larger one, also square, on the South side. The interior has approximately 200 nesting boxes, with supporting uprights of brick, while the horizontals are of thin pottery slabs designed for the purpose. Probably contemporary with Aberdour House, 550 m to the north-northeast, which bears the date '1740'.
