Full Description

Remains of a townhouse, the lodgings of Forbes of Pitsligo, built in the 16th century. This would have been the grandest building in the burgh (NJ96NW0114) when first built. It is a low two-storey rubble-built with red sandstone dressings, harled. On an L-plan with forestair in angle at rear, the back wall and wing much ruined. An inscribed pedimented dormer-head, probably from Pitsligo Castle, is built into the wall. Old coped garden wall partly preserved at back. It was inhabited until the mid 1920s.

Period Notes
Built 1573; bears datestone of 1763; inhabited until the mid 1920's.
