Full Description

House and shop, in residential use but with the shop disused. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as rectangular buildings forming an L-plan, with some buildings to the rear within the angle. On the 2nd edition OS map the rear buildings have been removed, and the southern section of the building altered to L-plan. Current OS maps show extensive rear extensions, filling the rear court. A Level 2 Standing Building Survey was carried out in 2017 by Cameron Archaeology prior to proposed demolition (see also NJ96NE0064). It was recorded as a two-storey building, constructed of granite with cherry cocking. The elevation facing Cross Street has a central entrance flanked by two large shop windows to the ground floor, and the first-floor has three windows. The interior is completely modernised, but stone walls were recorded where the plasterboard had been removed. There are harled, mid to late 20th century extensions to the west and north.
