Full Description

Pittulie fishing village, established in the late 18th to early 19th Centuries. The village is predominantly made up of single storey cottages, many with pantiled roofs, cemented for wind tightness. On the seaward side the cottages are positioned gable end on to the sea, with doors on the east side. Those on the landward side are mainly perpendicular to those on the seaward side.

Period Notes
Late 18thC/ early 19thC; mostly a result of herring boom in 19thC; extended massively in 1873.
