Former brewery, of 19th century date, consisting of an irregular group of 1-, 2- and 3-storey buildings dominated by a large asbestos-roofed kiln. Most recently an oatmeal mill. Part of the 19th century mill complex survived until circa 2006 when it was deemed dangerous and was demolished. A survey of the complex was carried out in October 1988 by G. J. Douglas for RCAHMS. An evaluation and standing building survey were carried out by Murray Archaeological Services in January 2009 prior to the development of the site for housing. In total, four trenches were excavated comprising 7 percent of the development area. Part of a ruinous stone culvert was uncovered in Trench 2, along with late 19th/early 20th century stoneware and glass bottle fragments. Further bottle fragments were found in Trench 4. Although the survey and evaluation revealed some features of the 19th century mill and brewery complex these were all robbed out, demolished or badly disturbed. It is deemed very unlikely that any more coherent foundations will survive.
