Full Description

Farmstead of Shevado, still in use, depicted on the OS map of 1867 as rectangular with a central court and a building within the court on the north side. On the west side is a circular feature which may be a whinmill or horse-gang. A small single building lies to the south west. By the 2nd edition OS map, a large block has been added to the northern side, the mill is no longer depicted, and a small L-plan farmhouse and rectangular outbuilding have been added to the south west. The farm is still in use though now much altered. In 1925 Ritchie noted that there was still a whin-mill which was originally employed in New Aberdour. The central pivot, pin, shaft and the crushing stone were complete and in good order but the course was not. Photographic recording of the Home Farm Cottage was carried out in 2020 ahead of proposed alterations.
