Full Description
Farmstead, in use, depicted on historic mapping, and farmhouse dated 1664. The farmhouse is category A-listed. Successive dates taken from royal arms in centre gable, plus CR and JEB (John Edward Bean) at lintel. The coat-of-arms relates to Ardgrain becoming a barony in the early 16th Century. The present house was erected by John Kennedy of Kermuck who purchased the barony in 1629. Reconstructed in the mid-18th century and all interior woodwork is of this date. There is a 2-storey and dormerless attic, harled, skewputts, steeply battered walls, approximately symmetrical south front with centre 1-window gable of slight projection, roll-moulded doorpiece with arched panel and sundial over it. Original chimneypieces at first floor, one moulded 17th or 18th century, one circa 1800.Column-balustered stair. Southeast ground floor room formerly had chimneypiece in southwest angle.

Built 17thC; dated 1664 at gable and 1751 at lintel; Ardgrain became Barony in 1528; barony purchased by Kennedy of Kermuck in 1629 who is credited with building the house; interior woodwork all 1751; conversion 1982/3.
